Abode PR is a brand-new agency. Well, we’re not really new, we’ve been around the travel and international vacation rental industry for quite a while now.  We’ve grown from Sockeye PR, working with agencies, management companies and service providers to develop their reputations, raise their profiles, build relationships and engage with new audiences.

What is new is our name and our decision to focus solely on the vacation rental industry – the sector of the travel industry that is the most exciting, has the greatest potential for innovation, and is growing and changing at a warp speed pace.

Abode PR was started by Jessica Gillingham, a PR and content marketing specialist. After working with several clients in the vacation rental industry, Jessica saw there was a real need for a first-class specialist PR and communications agency; one that really understands the challenges of the rapidly developing vacation rental industry. An agency that knows how to work with the travel press; that embraces both traditional and digital PR; and the massive opportunity for businesses in today’s multi-channel media environment.


It’s been a leap of faith, (backed up by sound research, great results and happy clients), which has paid off. Our team is growing, as are the clients we work with.

Dream vacation rental: a log cabin on Little Doctor Lake, Nahanni National Park, Northwest Territories, Canada.

Jessica is the founder and director of Abode PR. She started her marketing and PR career working in the travel industry for a Canada specialist tour operator.

Over the years, Jessica has worked with many big and small brands (some travel, some not), including Swoop Patagonia, Jayne’s Cottages, Frontier Travel, The British Heart Foundation, Lime Microsystems, Greentraveller, Passepartout Homes, Guest Hook, Dorothy House Hospice Care, 100 Ideas, Mamazou and Exmoor Tourism.

Jessica has also been on the other side of the fence as founder of Triptoes, an accommodation-only travel website, that was named a Guardian Start-up of the Year and won the TravelMole Best Accommodation Website in 2014.

It was during the running of Triptoes, that Jessica realised that her real passion, love and expertise lay in developing and implementing the vision, story and brand of the business. Developing reputations, engaging with communities, and building relationships through integrated PR, social and content marketing was where her heart lay.

Jessica loves nothing more than gaining coverage for her clients and watching their businesses grow.

Gillian has 15 years’ experience in PR and communications working for a broad range of companies specialising in the travel and technology sectors, including start-ups and big brands such as Swiss Air Lines, Eurostar, Accenture, HP and Tiger Woods Dubai.

She has an expert knowledge of the travel industry with great contacts having led the ABTA – The Travel Association press office for 6 years and acting as the Association’s spokesperson conducting over 100 TV and radio interviews.

Gill is a news hound and is tenacious in developing story angles and generating coverage for clients. She is also adept at crisis management and has managed multiple crises including the Tunisia terror attacks and many health and safety incidents affecting travel companies. Gillian has an international outlook having lived in the UK, Spain and the USA.

Joanna started her marketing and PR career working in the international Superyacht industry for a large publishing and media group.

With 11 of the last 14 years in the superyacht industry, Joanna has excellent experience of working with many brands, big and small, all with diverse needs and objectives.

Joanna is a very experienced and organized business development specialist with excellent relationship building skills. With a real passion for the travel industry, she brings her experience of niche businesses to our vacation rental clients.
